THE NEWMAN GROVE HIGH SCHOOL...is a 4-year, Class D-1 school. Grades 7-12 average 28 students per grade. Newman Grove operates on a district two-semester system for a school year, each having approximately 90 days of instruction. The school year usually begins within the week of August 20 and the first semester ends before December 24. The second semester begins the first of January and ends during the week of May 23. ADVANCED PLACEMENT...the Newman Grove School offers 1 AP course: American History
COLLEGE CREDIT CLASSES...the Newman Grove School offers College Credit (Project Challenge) through Northeast Community College. They are: Algebra and Trigonometry - 5 credits; General Biology and Lab - 4 credits; Agriculture Records - 3 credits and Animal Science - 3 credits.
COLLEGE AND TEST INFORMATION...most students in our area take the A.C.T. as the test for college admission. Seventy-four percent of the students take the A.C.T. with an average composite score of 21.3. Fourty-one percent of our graduates attend 4-year colleges, 33% attend 2-year colleges, 4% enter the military, 20% become employed, and 2% pursue other unknown interests. Of the students who start post-secondary training, 90% complete their training.

SCHEDULE...Newman Grove operates in a 4-block schedule. Each class is 90 minutes and each course lasts one semester (18 weeks). Statements have 8 blocks during the year to schedule classes.
GRADING...a 4-point grading system is used. There are no weighted grades given in any class. A = 4; B = 3; C = 2; D = 1; and F = 0. There are no "pluses" or "minuses."
